Satya Narayan Mourya ‘Baba’
What is Shri Mourya, (Baba) as an artist? His personality may be better highlighted if we ask the question, what he is not….and, to call Baba an artist grossly falls short of the sum total of his personality as it fails to capture the subtle nuances of his reflective, creative and expressive personality. To my mind, to sum it up in one sentence, instead of being a disciple of one art, for the sake of being an artist, he is an artist of pure expression. He uses not just one, but any art that is the right medium to express his particular inner reflection as creativity. The creative personality of this young artist eludes the norms of usual expression in the intellectual and creative field of art. Baba is such a charismatic artist of expression that unless one has seen and known him, it is hard to fathom the expanse of his works. In the field of arts if one were to ask the question as to what he is, it may be easier to describe as to what he is not. Babaji was born with a humble background in a small town called Rajgarh, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, in India in the year 1965. His father was a primary school teacher and Babaji was mostly on his own to fend for his education through ‘earn and learn’ from a very young age. This was partly responsible for developing his multifaceted skills. In short, Babaji is an artist in the truest of senses, as a poet, a performer, an orator, a singer and a painter. मंचीय कवि के रूप में बाबाजी ने एक लंबा समय देश के विभिन्न मंचों पर गुजारा. अपने विशिष्ठ अंदाज, विविध रसों की कविताओं तथा कविता की विभिन्न शैलियों के कारन श्रोताओं के प्रिय बने रहे. मौलिक एवं स्पष्ट विचारो ने उन्हें जहाँ सराहने वालों में प्रिय बनाया वहीं कुछ विरोधियों आलोचना का पात्र भी बनाया. बाबा ने कविता को राष्ट्रवाद से जोड़कर न सिर्फ स्वयं प्रस्तुतिया दी वरन नए कवियों की एक श्रँखला कड़ी की जो आज भी मंचों पर अपना रंग दिखा रही है. बाबाजी ने अनेक राजनैतिक तथा समयानुकूल रचनाएँ पैरोडी आदि के रूप में मंचों पर दी जिन्होंने अपने समय में धूम मचाई. लेकिन उनकी अनेक कालजयी रचनाये आज भी लोगों को प्रेरणा दे रही हैं. बाबाजी की अनेक कविताये तथा गीत संगीतबद्ध होकर कैसेट्स का रूप ले चुके हैं.

His rebellious personality is reflected in his poetic expression. Revolution seems to be inborn in him and he comes on hard and strong against the malicious aspects of any system. Every poem of his is a compelling invitation to the listener to become aware of the inconsistencies and injustices in a system and to do something about it. His poems are all in Hindi, the “language of his heart”, as he says. He has presented them at various prestigious platforms in all the major metropolises in India, and abroad, namely the U.S., London, the Carribean and the Port of Spain.

बाबाजी ने संगीत की कोई औपचारिक शिक्षा नहीं ली. ग्रामीण परिवेश के संगीत मंडलों से प्राम्भ हुई उनकी संगीत यात्रा आज मंचों पर जारी है. सच पूछो तो बाबाजी जन सामान्य के ए़से गायक हैं जिन्हें दो दशकों से सुना और सराहा है. अयोध्या आंदोलन के समय श्री अशोक जी सिंघल की प्रेरणा से सर्वप्रथम कुछ स्वरचित गीतों को स्वर दिया उसके बाद तो विभिन्न राष्ट्रीय आंदोलनों को गति प्रदान करने के लिए के लिए कई संगीतमयी कैसेट्स का निर्माण किया का निर्माण किया. बाद में कविताओ तथा गीतों की अनेक सी डी निर्मित की. इनमे से कई का प्रकाशन विभिन्न संस्थाओ द्वारा किया किया गया. कालांतर में भारतभक्ति संसथान ने कई सी डी स्वयं प्रकाशित की.

Although Babaji has not undergone any formal training in vocal music, he has acquired a honorable name as a singer of religious hymns—Bhajans, Geets and Kirtans. This came largely through his attachment to temples from childhood, where bhajans and music were galore. He began his career as a singer in the year 1992, during the Ayodhya movement in India. With inspiration from Shri Ashok Singhal, the working President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Babaji gave music to the Geets he had penned in a series called ‘Ram Paduka’. As there was nobody to sing them, Babaji sang them himself and it was a recorded performance. Soon, copies of his recording were floating around and became very popular indeed. This not only gave Babaji a good name, but also inspired him to make more music. There may not be a serious classical touch in Babaji’s rendering but that is very effectively covered by his unique folk appeal and style of presentation that hold his listeners spellbound. Babaji is his own music writer, and director and singer. His popularity is evident in his rising public demand. He has performed more than a hundred concerts, playing either the tabla or the dholak for rhythm, and has also appeared on national television.

बचपन से चित्रकारी के प्रति रूचि रही परन्तु राजगढ़ में चित्रकला के शिक्षण कि व्यवस्था न होने के कारण बाबा ने कॉमर्स ऐसा स्नातकोत्तर का शिक्षण लिया बाद में उज्जैन से एम् ए चित्रकला में स्वर्ण पदक प्राप्त किया. चित्रकला के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों और विधाओ में बाबाजी कि रूचि रही. पर आज के चित्रकार बाबाजी उन कलाकारों से अलग है जिनकी कला दीर्घाओं की मोहताज होती है. बाबाजी कि पेंटिंग का कैनवास बहुत लंबा है. जो वनवासी गांवों की दीवारों, रेल के डब्बों, मंदिरों, पुस्तकों से लेकर सात समंदर पर के कई देशों के घरों और मंचों तक फैला हुआ है. बाबाजी की चित्रकारी धनिक वर्ग के झूठे अहंकार की तुष्टि नही करती....एक सार्थक आंदोलन को जन्म देती है...सुप्त भावना को उद्वेलित कराती है....एक यात्रा की प्रेरणा देती है.

Babaji has tried his hand at writing and found that it came as anatural extension of his writing poetry. He is the author of many dramas, and television scripts and articles. The drama that he wrote on Ramayan, was staged in a well-known theatre in Bombay, India, which is shortly going to be published. He has about 250 series of television episodes to his credit.

बाबाजी अपनी स्पष्ट सोच, पैनी नजर और धारदार चित्रकारी के कारण कार्टूनिस्ट के रूप में बहुत चर्चित रहे. उनके तीखे तेवरों को सम्हाल पाना समाचार पत्रों के बस में भी नहीं था. इसलिए उन्होंने इन विषयों को स्वयं ही छोटी-छोटी पुस्तकों में अभिव्यक्ति दी. ये पुस्तिकाए लाखों की संख्यो में कई-कई बार प्रकाशित की गई. जहाँ से लेकर कई समाचार पत्र पत्रिकाओं ने इन्हें सीरीज में प्रकाशित किया. कई संस्थाओं ने इनकी प्रदर्शनियों भी लगवाई.

Babaji has effectively used this medium of expression in a very versatile way. He uses his sharp sense of humor and satire with his strong artist’s stroke with prowess. He started as a cartoonist with the local newspaper and later, he used this medium to cover walls and make posters with his message during the various movements. The subjects of his cartoons range from the ongoing religious and social issues to political problems. His cartoons have come to have a wide appeal as they have an intelligent and witty expression, and he diligently follows it up from the beginning to its end. Often enough, his cartoons have caused raging controversies among the political and religious circles. Most of his political cartoons have been published in the form of a book and have become a best selling series.

बाबा सत्यनारायण जिसे आम आदमी से लेकर विभिन्न क्षेत्रों के गणमान्य लोग चाहते है और सम्मान देते हैं जब उनसे सम्मान के बारे में पूछा जाता है तो वे कह देते है मैं खुला घूम रहा हूँ, यही सबसे बड़ा सरकारी सम्मान है. संत कबीरदास ने कहा था ‘ जो घर फूंके आपना चले हमारे साथ’ बाबाजी इससे आगे की बात कहते हैं कि जिसका डर हो वो काम क्यों करना... जब घर होगा ही नहीं तो विरोधी क्या फूंकेंगे...? अधिकतर साधू संत या कवि स्वतंत्र होने के लिए निकलते है पर अपने अपने आश्रमों, संस्थानों एवं सरकारी सम्मानों में बंधकर सच बोलना ही भूल जाते हैं. बाबाजी ने इसी सिद्धांत के तहत कोई आश्रम या सरकारी सम्मानों का झंझट नहीं पाला. आज अनेक संत तथा साहित्यकार जहाँ सरकारी सम्मान और धार्मिक पदों के मोह कि कैद में बंद है वही बाबा एक सिंह कि भांति मंचों से लेकर लेखनी तक सच्चाई का गर्जन करते रहते है. कई बार लगता है बाबाजी किसी राजनैतिक दल से बंधे है परन्तु ऐसा नहीं... उन्हें सम्पूर्ण रूप में कोई दल नहीं चाहता और खंडित स्वरुप बाबाजी को पसंद नहीं. चूँकि बाबाजी किसी पन्थ की औपचारिकता से बंधे नहीं है इसलिए उनकी जीवन शैली में हर पल भारतीयता तो दिखाती है पर कोई भौतिक बंधन नहीं दिखता है. बाबाजी संस्कृति के प्रहरी है परन्तु पुरानी सड़ी-गली मान्यताओं पर प्रहार करने में उन्हें कोई संकोच नहीं. बाबा के अचूक बाणों से कोई नहीं बचता, चाहे वो धार्मिक व्यक्तित्व हो, राजनेता हो, या धनिक व्यापारी. क्योंकि यायावरी जीवन बिताने वाले बाबा एक निष्काम विद्रोही है... अपने मन के ऐसे सम्राट है.....जिन्हें अपनी सत्ता के लिए किसी बाहरी प्रमाण की आवश्यकता नहीं. बाबाजी किसी सांचे में बंधे नहीं है. गाँव देहात के सीधेपन से लेकर विदेशों की आधुनिकता, खेल के मैदान से लेकर सागरतट तक, घरेलू कामकाज से लेकर टेक्नोलॉजी तक, योग से लेकर आधुनिक विद्यार्थियों के विषयों तक बाबाजी सभी जगह सहज होते हैं. धर्म से लेकर हास्य व्यंग्य तक एक ही व्यक्तित्व को देखकर अटपटा लगता है. बाहरी दिखावे से बाबाजी को पहचान पाना मुश्किल होता है. क्योंकि एक व्यक्ति में अनेक व्यक्तित्व मिले हुए है.......इसीलिये कई बार तो लोग बच्चों के साथ खेलते हुए बाबाजी से ही लोग पूछ बैठते हैं कि बाबाजी कहाँ मिलेंगे ?

बाबाजी के बारे में ये महत्वपूर्ण बात है की उन्हें कहीं भी बहार का आदमी नहीं माना जाता. देश के कौने कौने ही नहीं, दुनिया भर में अनेक जगह पर बाबाजी न सिर्फ गए है वरन उन्हें अपनत्व की डोरी से बांधकर वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम का सूत्र दिया है. हर उम्र, हर जाति, हर मत-पंथ और हर क्षेत्र के लोग जहाँ बाहरी लोगों को अंदर प्रवेश नहीं देते वे बाबाजी से ऐसे जुड़ जाते हैं जैसे बाबाजी उन्ही के बीच पले-बड़े हो. अन्य देशों के अन्य धर्मी लोग भी बाबा के साथ सहजता महसूस करते हैं.....क्योंकि भारतीय मान्यताये जो बाबाजी की स्वभावगत विशेषता है...किसी के लिए भी अपनी सी है.

बाबाजी के बारे में ये महत्वपूर्ण बात है की उन्हें कहीं भी बहार का आदमी नहीं माना जाता. देश के कौने कौने ही नहीं, दुनिया भर में अनेक जगह पर बाबाजी न सिर्फ गए है वरन उन्हें अपनत्व की डोरी से बांधकर वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम का सूत्र दिया है. हर उम्र, हर जाति, हर मत-पंथ और हर क्षेत्र के लोग जहाँ बाहरी लोगों को अंदर प्रवेश नहीं देते वे बाबाजी से ऐसे जुड़ जाते हैं जैसे बाबाजी उन्ही के बीच पले-बड़े हो. अन्य देशों के अन्य धर्मी लोग भी बाबा के साथ सहजता महसूस करते हैं.....क्योंकि भारतीय मान्यताये जो बाबाजी की स्वभावगत विशेषता है...किसी के लिए भी अपनी सी है.
